Wrinkles
Wrinkles are lines and depressions that form in the skin as part of the natural aging process. They are folds that result over the years due to muscle activity and movements—both of the limbs and of the facial muscles known as expression muscles. When combined with sun exposure, these folds can become permanent and deepen over time.
Wrinkles appear mainly in areas most exposed to the sun, such as the face, neck, hands, and arms. They can be classified as superficial or deep.
-
Superficial wrinkles disappear when the skin is stretched.
-
Deep wrinkles remain visible even when the skin is stretched.
Factors such as smoking, sun exposure, physical inactivity, and poor diet can accelerate skin aging and contribute to wrinkle formation.
There are various treatment options for wrinkles, including:
Peels, radiofrequency, laser, topical creams, cosmetology, botulinum toxin (Botox), electro-lifting, among others.
