TRANSOPERATIVE BODY
The transoperative phase refers to the period during which the patient's entry and exit from the operating room are determined.
During this phase, the physiotherapist begins their role right after the surgery is completed but still within the operating room. The physiotherapist applies kinesiology tape, which are elastic adhesive bandages applied to the skin using kinesio techniques, respecting the lymphatic flow and adapting to the type of surgery performed.
In body surgeries, after applying the bandages, the physiotherapist, together with the nursing team, ensures the proper use of compressive garments (shapewear). This helps avoid deformities caused by improper compression or positioning.
The bandages aim to reduce edema, bruising (bruises), and future fibrosis.
They can also be applied in the hospital, in the patient's room before discharge, or at home within the first 24 hours post-surgery. The sooner, the better.
It is important to respect the surgical team regarding the application or the ideal timing for this technique.
This treatment has an additional cost, separate from the surgery and pre or post-operative care.
