NYMPHOPLASTY

Pre-Op

Labiaplasty is a plastic surgery procedure that involves the reduction of the vaginal labia minora in women who have hypertrophy in this area. It can be performed when the labia minora are excessively large, causing discomfort during sexual intercourse, embarrassment, or low self-esteem.

Physiotherapy can be used in the preoperative phase within the urogynaecological specialty, focusing on strengthening the pelvic floor.

Exfoliation and hydration of the area can be done to prepare the skin for surgery. Hair removal is also recommended.

Post-Op

In the post-operative period of labiaplasty:

* Main feature: care in hygiene. Avoid humidity and heat in the region as much as possible

* Movements are not restricted, but the insecurity of not being able to see the location correctly makes movements slower.

* Start care on the fourth to fifth day post-operatively, counting the day of surgery.

* The patient will be evaluated and documented on the first day of care and will have their physiotherapy diagnosis according to this day.

* 5 to 10 sessions are recommended over a period of 2 to 4 weeks, however this number varies according to the physiotherapy assessment on the first day and the patient's day-to-day progress.

* Guidance and demonstrations of positions, postures and movements are essential for the patient and companions.

* Care with dressings and cleaning them when necessary and at the doctor's request.

* Electrotherapy can be used as an aid in urogynecological physiotherapy for pelvic strengthening.

* Cosmetology applied for whitening after 8 weeks.

* Use of looser panties and intimate protectors for 3 weeks.
