MENTAL LIPO
Pre-Op
Chin liposuction, also known as neck liposuction, is a surgical procedure used to remove excess fat from the neck or under the chin (double chin), particularly in cases without significant skin laxity. In some cases, the surgeon may recommend combining the procedure with a neck lift (cervical lifting), offering an effective solution to treat both localized fat and sagging skin.
This condition commonly appears in individuals over 30 years of age, especially those who have experienced weight loss or have a genetic predisposition to fat accumulation in this area.
For patients indicated for a neck lift, after fat removal, a small incision is made behind the ears to tighten the neck’s skin and underlying muscles. The resulting scar is discreet and typically hidden within the hairline.
Preoperative Care Includes:
-
Photographic and postural assessment of the cervical (neck) region.
-
Skin cleansing 1 to 2 weeks before the surgery, focusing on the chin and neck area where blackheads and pimples tend to accumulate.
-
Hair removal: in some cases, laser hair removal is recommended months in advance, or traditional hair removal should be done 3 days before the procedure.
-
Avoid prolonged sun exposure for at least two weeks before surgery.
Pós-operatório
Postoperative Care After Chin Liposuction:
-
The main characteristic is swelling (edema) and sensitivity in the submental (chin) area.
-
The patient can perform movements but should avoid prolonged or fixed postural patterns.
-
Physiotherapy should begin on the third postoperative day, counting from the day of surgery or as soon as authorized by the surgeon.
-
The neck area is usually swollen and, in rare cases, may show bruising (ecchymosis).
-
Increased sensitivity is common in the chin and earlobe regions.
-
The patient will be evaluated and documented on the first day of care, and a physiotherapeutic diagnosis will be established based on that assessment.
-
A minimum of 5 sessions is recommended over a period of 2 to 3 weeks; however, this may vary according to the initial evaluation and the patient's daily progress.
-
Clear guidance and demonstration of proper movement and postural care are essential for the patient.
-
Wound care and hygiene are performed when necessary and upon medical request.
-
Manual lymphatic drainage is included in all sessions. We master multiple techniques (Leduc – Godoy – Vodder), hold international certifications, and continuously train our team to ensure excellence in care.
-
The use of a facial compression band is recommended for 15 days full-time, followed by an additional 15 days of intermittent use, depending on the patient's progress.
