COXOPLASTY

Pre-Op

Surgery that removes excess skin from the thighs. The extent of the cut may vary depending on the sagging skin in the area. It can be performed on both men and women, and is often used on patients who have lost a lot of weight or have some deformity in the area.

Physiotherapy is a co-participant in any surgical procedure. In the pre-operative period, the patient will be evaluated, guided and prepared for surgery, according to their current limitations and the surgical procedure they will undergo.

In the pre-operative period, strengthen the lower limbs and stretch, moisturize and exfoliate the skin in the area that will receive surgery.

Good nutritional guidance would also be welcome, helping the digestive tract and preparing cellular nutrition. Foods rich in sugar should be avoided in order to prevent oxidation and the release of free radicals that do not help in future surgery. Studies have shown positive points regarding the combination of nutritional cosmetics used before and after surgeries.

Another item is respiratory preparation, as well as stopping smoking at least 30 days before and after surgery.

Post-Op

In the post-op period of thighplasty:

* Main feature: care with humidity and movement in the inguinal region.

* Abduction movement (opening) of the legs is restricted for 15 days to small extensions, sufficient for ventilation and intimate hygiene

* Start care on the third or fourth day after surgery, counting the day of surgery.

* The patient will be evaluated and documented on the first day of care and will have their physiotherapy diagnosis according to this day.

* 10 to 15 sessions are recommended over a period of 3 to 5 weeks, however this number varies according to the physiotherapy assessment on the first day and the patient's day-to-day progress.

* Guidance and demonstrations of positions, postures and movements are essential for the patient and companions.

* Care with dressings and cleaning them when necessary and at the doctor's request.

* Manual lymphatic drainage in all sessions. We have mastered several techniques (Leduc - Godoy - Vodder) with international training, and we carry out constant training with the team in order to maintain the quality and perfection of the service.

* Electrotherapy usually begins 7 to 10 days after surgery, depending on the physiotherapeutic evaluation and the patient's healing needs at the time of treatment, seen every day since the beginning of their rehabilitation. We provide several resources for use: laser, ultrasound, endermo, high frequency ozone, carboxy, radiofrequency.

* Use of full leg or band shapers for 40 to 60 days depending on the evolution of the scar.
