BICHECTOMY

Pre-Ops

Bichectomy - a procedure to remove the Bichat ball or adipose body from the cheek, is an aesthetic/functional procedure that aims to reduce the volume of the cheeks, increasing the evidence of the zygomatic prominence and the contour of the jaw, making the face more harmonious and also proposes to increase the buccal corridor, reducing trauma in patients who tend to 'bite' their cheek.

In the preoperative period, a photographic record and functional analysis of the TMJ (temporomandibular joint) are made.

Post-Op

In the postoperative period of bichectomy:

* Main feature take care of inner cheek edema.

* Side-lying sleeping positions are limited for one to two weeks. Head movement may also be uncomfortable for the first week.

* Start care on the third day after surgery, counting the day of surgery. Or when the doctor releases you.

* To prevent swelling of the face, apply ice packs to the surgical site.

* The face may become edematous (swollen), and rarely bruised (bruised).

* The patient will be evaluated and documented on the first day of care and will have their physiotherapy diagnosis according to this day.

* 5 to 10 sessions are recommended over a period of 2 to 4 weeks, however this number varies according to the physiotherapy assessment on the first day and the patient's day-to-day progress.

* Guidance and demonstrations of positions, postures and movements are essential for the patient and companions.

* Care with dressings and cleaning them when necessary and at the doctor's request.

* Manual lymphatic drainage in all sessions. We have mastered several techniques (Leduc - Godoy - Vodder) with international training, and we carry out constant training with the team in order to maintain the quality and perfection of the service.

* Kinesio taping can be applied during the first two weeks.
